Obituary: Mary Elizabeth Brubeck(1953-2024)

Announcement of Death

Mary Elizabeth Brubeck, known affectionately as Mary Beth to all who knew her, passed away quietly at home in Eagle Colorado on October 5th 2024 with the love of his life. For two years, she bravely fought the disease as her fighting spirit was already evident when she survived a stroke and brain aneurysm in 2016.

Biography

Mary Beth was born April 2,1953 in Blackwell to Bill and Dorothy Hahn. She graduated from Blackwell High School and went on to earn her Bachelor’s Degree from Oklahoma State University where she pursued a career as an elementary educator. After taking her father’s advice, she made the move to the beautiful mountains of Vail Colorado and worked in hospitality. At the Christiania Lodge is where she’d meet her future life partner, adventurer Kevin Brubeck. The couple married in Bend, Oregon at The Inn of the 7th Mountain where they both worked.

Loved Ones

She was, she knew now for the first time in her life— despite that writing thing or any job even sitting at some hi-lo and driving around town–a mother. Sarah and Christopher, her children were the light of life with every single move or moment reflecting an unwavering devotion. Her life was completely lightened by the coming of her grandchildren, Sean and Payton, who made all days brighter for her. In addition to her husband Kevin and parents Bill and Dorothy Hahn, Mary Beth was predeceased by uncles Earl & Harold Hahn; she is survived by a loving family: sister Beverly (Hahn) Alexander (Loren), daughter Sarah Brubeck-Schnurbusch & Tim Schnurbusvh, son Christopher Brubeck& Kyla; nieces Kristen Generotzke. Hobbies

Mary Beth, an ardent sports fan as well, meanwhile kept her allegiance to Oklahoma State but also cheered on the University of Colorado football team.She would awe family and friends with her amazing sports stats during things like the Super Bowl or The Masters. She also enjoyed cooking and sharing family recipes as well finding new foods while traveling with Kevin. They continued to travel the world on adventures and for Sarah’s shorter stays from hospital where they treasured every second together.

Memorial Services

A service to celebrate her life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her name to [charity or cause].

Closing Thoughts

Mary Beth was such a warm and generous lady with the sweetest spirit . She had such an incredible zest for life, we will certainly all miss her but I know that her light will never dim in those who were lucky enough to have known this truly extraordinary woman.
