Marjorie( Duprey) Childs, Age 86, of Lord Road. On October 7, 2024 at Maine Medical Center.

Biography

Born on August 1, 1938 in Springfield, Vermont to Ernest Duprey and Estelle( Greenwood) Hardison. A proud Chester High School graduate of 1956, she spent most of her life raising her three adored children in Springfield. After the death of her first husband, she married for love to Rodney Childs, and they relocated to Newport, Rhode Island. In 1974, after Rodney retired from the service, they established their home at the family grange in Buxton, Maine.

A significant part of her working life included happy moments at Tory Hill Store and 3D Variety, where she had lasting gemütlichkeit and created innumerable treasured recollections.

Loved Ones

Marjorie was a devoted woman, mama, and grossmutter. She is survived by her loving children, grandchildren, and extended family, all who will miss her warmth and vibrant spirit.

pursuits

Marjorie was an absolutely great fun-loving card player who could play poker, sometimes beating even her grandkids to her winning. Thanksgiving was also special, as she enjoyed cooking for her family’s very occasional gathering. She spent her days watching the western channel with her beloved dog, Ben, while wearing her favorite T-shirt that read, “Don’t tell me what to do, you’re not my canine.” She also celebrated many happy birthdays at the Oxford Casino.

The family wants to take this opportunity to convey their deepest gratitude to Aunt Shirley Eastman for her steady care and concern over Marjorie’s last weeks. Funeral arrangements are provided through Evansville’s Miller Funeral Home. Other information on making a contribution to the honorarium will be posted shortly.
