Announcement of Death
Woody — Richard Heywood Tarbuck was born April 8, 1942 and passed away peacefully October the thirteenth in his eighty-second year. Fondly referred to as Woody, he was the son of Richard B. and Phyllis (Janes) Tarbuck who entered this world in Boston, Massachusetts only three days prior to Pearl Harbor being bombed.
Biography
Woody grew up in Danvers and had graduated from Holten High School with the class of 1959. He graduated from UMass on a football scholarship, and logged an undergraduate in pre-med. A meandering career in veterinary pharmaceuticals and with the public health service put him firmly on track at last. So it was that work brought him from Savannah, Ga., to Hallowell, and then up the road to Pittston where he would own for a time the Pittston General Store (“open 8 days”).
Hobbies
He loved projects more than anything and was happiest working or at meal time, whichever one came first. This has been anything but a straight-line career — back from owning an engine business in Boothbay Harbor to fixing up old buildings with lifelong friend Kurt Jewett. Although it was a diverse calling, Woody engaged emotionally and trumped up his biggest impact at Maranacook as an educator to kids from troubling backgrounds who both needed and received the empathy he was donating. He was stationed at a camp, called Lovejoy Pond — where Woody loved to work on roads and trees and water tests rather than take it easy.
Loved Ones
In 1984, Woody married the love of his life Janet and along with their combined families to bagan many other adventures together. He is survived by his beloved wife Janet of nearly 40 years, sons Brian and Leigh, daughters Lori & Shauna (Dow), grandchildren Gabriel Hawke-LeBlanc Oliva Lea Brownwell Anderson Jacqueline McClinton Lillian Kaitlyn Stefanie Elizabeth Adrian Cooper Myles Andrea Henry William Barrett Katherine Cherokee Eden Jade Fiji Peimu Caleb Kinzley Harper Grace Mila Rose.
