It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Reverend John E. Fanning, a faithful priest of the church, who went home to his eternal reward on October 10, 2024.
Biography
Born on February 2, 1943, Father Fanning was ordained in Rome on December 20, 1968. He began his ministry at Annunciation Parish and later served at various parishes, including St. James Parish in Milton. In 1979, he started working with the Metropolitan Tribunal, where he advanced to the position of judge from 1984 to 1986. Father Fanning’s commitment to education extended to teaching at St. Joseph’s Regional Seminary in India for six months in 1992, where he shared his deep understanding of scripture with seminarians.
From 1995 to 2001, he acted as a consultant for priest personnel, showcasing his dedication to the clergy and the community. Father Fanning recently celebrated the golden jubilee of his priesthood in 2018, marking fifty years of unwavering service to his faith and the people he loved.
