Announcement of Death

We were grieved to hear of the passing of a fine lady, Mary Lee Hughes Cannady, 86 year-old of Glenrock, who entered Glory on October 1. She died calmly at her residence, surrounded by love.

Biography

Mary A. Hughes Cannady, co-founder of Glenrock Components, was born on May 6, 1938, in Leoti, Kansas. She had many years serving as an icon in local communities. In 1973, she and her first husband, Don Hughes, began Hughes Hardware and Lumber. After Don’s sudden death, Mary graduated from Wyoming Eastern College in accounting. She married her second husband, Richard Cannady, in the spring of 1987. Together the couple has been running Glenrock Components to its recent closing on September 28, 2024.

Besides Mary’s business ventures, she was active in the Glenrock Economic Development Committee and was a lifelong member of Eastern Star, celebrating 50 years with an outstanding pin.

Loved Ones

All the children, stepchildren, and grandchildren will miss Mary, not to mention a multitude of great-grandchildren who will carry on the spirit of community that Mary carried so well. She will be sorely missed by all of those who have been blessed enough to know her in Glenrock and beyond. 

Memorial Services

Funeral services will take place on October 13, 2021, at [Funeral Home Name] where the family will receive friends from noon until 2:00 PM. The family and friends are very grateful for this opportunity to pay respect to Mary’s life and legacy that continues living on.

Closing Thoughts

The life of Mary had a very great impact on her family and community that will always be in our memories.

Hobbies

Mary had many hobbies that added many splashy things to her palette, and she enjoyed every one of them, which therefore kept her vibrancy alive in the community and touched so many lives.
