Obituary for Linda Elise Simmons(1951-2024)

Announcement of Death

Linda Elise Simmons, age 73 of Cullman passed away Thursday October 17,2024 with heavy hearts. Linda was born on January 14, 1951 to William Buehl Stephens and Martha Evon (Stephens) Shearin where she lived a life of love and devotion for her family and community.

Biography

Wife, mother of 5 kids and sister & friend to many Linda was a Jersey girl with a Brooklyn attitude. Her spirit of warmth and kindness touched all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, cherished daughters; Wendy Michelle, Jenna Ray and Jennifer Shay along with Candace Leigh Shields.; sisters: Evelyn Stephens & Estelle Guard. Her survivors include her devoted husband Steve Simmons and their three sons: Phillip Stephens, Matthew Stephens, Derek Stephens. She is also survived by her brother, William Herbert Stephens and sister Carolyn Bailey; Sister Charlotte (Dale) McCullough.

Hobbies

Linda had a zest for life and was always keeping busy with her love of gardening, knitting or volunteering at local charities. She was an active member of the community, always looking to be involved in anyone and everyone’s affairs.

Loved Ones

And to those who knew her, such as our family still surviving, they will truly miss the warmth and kindness that she always showed them. She is survived by her husband of almost 43 years, Steve Simmons; three sons: Phillip Stephens (Berta), Matthew Stephens and Derek Stephens. Survivors include her Brother, William Herbert Stephens and Sisters Carolyn Bailey and Charlotte McCullough.

Memorial Services

Family and friends have been invited to honor Linda’s life at a graveside service on Monday, October 21st, commencing at 11.00AM in the Bethsaida Cemetery. Visiting will be held the night before, from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements;

Closing Thoughts

The family asks that donations be made to Linda’s favorite charity In Loving Memory of her lifelong work in helping others, not flowers. She will be sorely missed by those who knew her, but she leaves an ethereal fire in us all.
