Announcement of Death
John A. LoVetere III, loving son, husband, father, and grandfather, was embraced into eternal life on Sunday morning, October 6th, at his Wilmington, MA home, surrounded by his family, at the tender age of 58. His battle against chronic illness came to an end after 25 years of constant support from his beloved wife, Selena Smathers.
Biography
John lived a life alive and well. He had an adventurous spirit and a passion for discovering new territories. Toward the end of his life, he traveled to many American cities, including Buffalo, Chattanooga, and Omaha. These cities made up parts of the tapestry of his important experiences. John’s career was remarkable, marked by dedication and pride, covering places and work from Chicago to Las Cruces and even Evansville. He was a multi-talented man who balanced his work successes with love for his family and the little pleasures in life.
Loved Ones
John leaves behind a family who loved him dearly. He is survived by his loving wife, Selena Smathers; his mother and stepfather, Nancy and Doug Dehart; his in-laws, Frank and Verdon Smathers; his sister and brother-in-law, Pennie and Nick Yebba; his beloved daughters, Nicole Fisher and Carolyn Simpson; sons-in-law, Joshua Fisher and Stephen Simpson; and his two most treasured grandsons, Andrew and Harrison Fisher, of whom he was phenomenally proud.
Memorial Services
A special memorial service will be held by his family at Berryhill Funeral Home in Huntsville, with another service at Baker Funeral Home in Knoxville, another of John’s favorite cities. Further details on these and other services at Davis Funeral Home and Paradise Funeral Home will be provided to enable family and friends to gather together and celebrate John’s remarkable legacy.
Hobbies
Professionally, John was deeply in love with the ocean; family outings spent by the sea were close to his heart. San Antonio, Fort Wayne, and Fond du Lac were places dear to him; however, the coast will always be his haven. Above all, family was the most important aspect of his life. As a grandpa, he cherished every moment, and his joy was almost rivaled by the adventures shared with his family and his two faithful friends, Kia and Jax, the two dogs.

In closing, John’s legacy is one of love, strength, and a never-ceasing zest for life. He touched many lives through his kind acts of generosity. His memory will forever be cherished by those who knew him, and his spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
