Rockingham-James Robert Taylor Sr., 74, of Rockingahm died Wednesday, October 16,2024 at Wickshire Creeks Crossing Senior Living in Raeford. Mr. Taylor was born February 11, 1950 in Richmond County and was preceded in death by his beloved parents Thurman Lewis Harris (Taylor) and Beulah Mae Greer Taylor;

Biography

For more than 31 years, James worked in mechanical maintenance at Hood Packaging. But what that means to have a work ethic and sacrifice for your family comes in the form of a man such as James. And so, he was a much-loved member of Mount Carmel Free Will Baptist Church in Rockingham where his service to the church blossomed beyond just being simply a professional. He had a contagious sense of humor with which he never met a stranger and many laughs and wits earned. Most he would enjoy listening as he was a caring person who gave good advice, for people were naturally drawn toward him.

Loved Ones

He was in front of his parents, loving wife Carolyn, and sister Margie Faye Harden Stewart.

He is survived by his children, Lisa Taylor Wheeler of Rockingham and James Robert Taylor Jr. of Hamlet; bonus children Felisia Gulledge (Mark) of Hamlet and Bryan Gibson (Amparo) of Rockingham Also, he left behind his lovely Grandchildren- Addison Gibson and wife Meagan, Taylor Wheeler Teague, Hailey Wheeler Russell and husband Kody, Carley Gulledge; Adored Great-grandchildren Noah Gibson Maizie Gibson Denver Grace Teague. In addition to his wife, survivors of Mr. Taylor include brothers Glenn Taylor and Dean Taylor of Rockingham; Raymond Taylor and wife Kathy of Hamlet

Hobbies

James was quite humorous. He liked being able to make others smile. This man had a love of tales to share and especially just simply creating smiles and chuckles by way of his quick wit.

He had this gift inside of him to touch souls and bring glow to the lives of people.

Memorial Services

Plans are in the works for a memorial service at Mount Carmel Free Will Baptist Church in Rockingham, where family and friends-and the many community members he has served-can come together to celebrate a life well-lived. Closing Thoughts

He will be sadly missed by each who obtained and admired him.
