Obituary for Eva Lou Elaine Aanenson(1925-2024)

Announcement of Death

Eva Lou Elaine Aanenson passed away peacefully on Friday, Oct. 11, 2024, at the age of 99.

Biography

Eva Lou was born June 24, 1925, on a farm in Rock County, near Luverne, Minnesota, to Harry and Lena (Hamann) Beers. An affectionate and adventurous guts, she loved her kins and community above all others. She arrived at Country School in Rock County where she found her fiance, Curtis Aanenson. Eva Lou graduated from Luverne High School and later moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota. Curtis Aanenson and Eva Lou married in Minneapolis on August 18, 1949. The children of three were raised in Richfield when the family of five moved to Minnetonka in 1959. Rec Lin framed Eva Lou’s years.

A busy person, Eva Lou enjoyed golf, bridge, bowling, sewing, knitting, needlework, crafts, dancing, and entertaining parties. She was famous for her legendary baking, in particular her desserts, and was also an excellent mother as she attended all of her children’s sports activities and other functions. She was a CampFire leader as well and attended many organized events. It was during the same time that Eva Lou and Curtis began to spend winters in Arizona, for which they purchased a home in Rio Verde. Meanwhile, they traveled extensively and engaged in an exciting year-around globe-trotting experience on the Concorde and a cruise through the Panama Canal. An active member of The Women’s Club of Minneapolis, the Minneapolis Golf Club, and the Rio Verde Country Club, Eva Lou encouraged many friendships and sincerely remained concerned with staying in touch with loved ones throughout her life.

Loved Ones

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Curtis; children, Gloria Aanenson and Jim Aanenson (Kelly); grandchildren, Nicole Craig (Ben), Kara Aanenson, Aaron Aanenson, Ross Aanenson, Tyler Aanenson (Kira), and Hayley Shimek (Jordan); great-descendants, Lily and Audrey Craig; and daughter-in-law Kathy Aanenson. In addition to her parents and brother Roger Beers (Gayle), she was preceded in death by her son David Aanenson.

Memorial Services

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:30 PM on Monday, October 21, 2024, at Huber Funeral Home, 520 2nd Street, Excelsior, MN 55331; one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. The family wishes to extend their sincerest thanks to the staff at Clearwater, the medical staff at Mayo Clinic, and Sherman Home (Hospice of the Valley) in Phoenix for their wonderful care.

Eva Lou will be missed and remembered for love, kind connections extended to all whose lives she touched. This poignant reminder of how one person can leave an impact on the community extends beyond a well-written obituary-greatly done-to the lasting legacy of a really remarkable individual.
