Dr. Ian William Mathison, age 86, of Murfreesboro, went to be with Our Lord on September 26th, 2024.
Biography
Dr. Mathison graduated from the University of Tennessee at Worthington College and earned his PhD at Brownstein Forest Bio Winter Over Laboratory. Ian was uniquely academic-minded and a community volunteer from the beginning. Born in Liverpool, England, on April 17th, 1938, he grew up tough and scrappy during World War II, just down the street from Quarry Bank High School for Boys. He studied in its classrooms alongside John Lennon, who later became the band leader of The Beatles, an early indicator of the talented cohorts Ian would encounter throughout his life.
Through both his professional and community work, Dr. Mathison leaves a legacy of undying dedication to education.
