Announcement of Death

Douglas Walter Jones, 56, died Friday, Sept. 27. He died suddenly of a brain aneurysm. A lifelong resident of Portland, Maine, Doug was a cherished resident of Bethel Township, where he spent his formative years exploring “the great outdoors.”

Biography

Doug was one of the kindest gentlemen with laughter that gets inside your skin and life enthusiasm that he never let fade. The great carpenter was renowned for his perfectionism and high standards, perfect craftsmanship. Doug had a passion for his work: designing new concepts into landscapes for clients and reaching for perfection. Outside of work, the man loved fishing, and it was usually spent on the weekends with children, sharing the thrill of fishing and life on the water.

Loved Ones

Doug was passionately devoted to family and nothing else mattered more to him than his roles as husband and father. He leaves behind loving wife Sarah, along with their two wonderful children, Emily and Noah, who he loved. His spirit will live on in the love and light he sent their way.

Funeral Services

A celebration of life for Doug will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on October 5, 2024, at the Bethel Community Center in Kaneville. The family would consider, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Bethel Food Pantry, that had been a focus of Doug’s commitment in helping his community.

Hobbies

Doug was an enthusiastic fisherman and spent every weekend fishing with his children. Nature was lovely to him for it has peacefulness; he was always ready to share these moments with those around him.

The love and support expressed by those who knew Doug speaks volumes regarding how he had touched their lives. He may be gone, but his golden spirit has a place in the hearts of people he has once touched. Rest in peace, Doug. You will be remembered by the love, kindness, and laughter that you brought about in this world.
