Announcement of Death

Bud Leo Daley, at aid for Health Hospice Home, Riverton, Wy died calmly in his sleep October 15th, 2024. Born in Salem County Missouri on February 17th, 1932, he died peacefully at the age of ninety-two.

Biography

On October 7th, 1932 Bud was born in Orange, California to Leavitt and Helen Daley; a life well lived with commitment and zeal. His high school sweetheart was the former Dorothy Olson, who he married in 1952. They marked a remarkable 72 years together this past year, and their bond created a family they could be proud of — Ed, Debbie, Laurie and Jeff and eight grandchildren;18 great-grandchildren,(soon to be 19 this October)and two great-greats growing the legacy further.

Bud lived an incredible life with numerous amazing accomplishments. A product of Louisiana, he turned pro directly out of high school when the Indians signed him.

Bud played ten years with the major leagues of the Cleveland Indians, Kansas City Athletics, and New York Yankees. Berra pitched on four pennant-winning teams and two World Championship teams pitching the final game of 1961’s series victory. Besides being a manager of A’s, Bud was also the All-Star during 1959 and 1960.

Bud and Dorothy moved to Wyoming in 1975 where they have lived for the last 49 years between Lander, WY, and Riverton.

Hobbies

Golfing, Bud was a multiple winner of the State Senior Tournament, proving his competitive attitude on and off the baseball diamond.

Loved Ones

Those left to cherish the memories of this wonderful man include his loving wife, Dorothy; children, Ed, Debbie, Laurie, and Jeff; and a large family that loved every day spent with him. He was preceded in death by his parents and his stepfather, Eldon “Curly” Petzoldt.

Memorial Services

He leaves behind his loving wife of 62 years, Dorothy; children Ed (Karen), Debbie Weaver (Don Willis) and Laurie Schuldt; son-in-law Jeff Giabbai-Hurdis all who cherished every moment spent with him.He died in the same general location where he grew up and connected with his parents and stepfather, Eldon “Curly” Petzoldt. According to Bud’s wishes, there will not be any formal services. Records may be made to Help for Health Hospice in care of the Davis Funeral Home, 2203 W. Main Street, Riverton, WY 82501.
