Announcement of Death

The peaceful passing of Mr Donald E. Towle at family with a devoted educator an Army Reserve Officer and also, a very accomplished community leader in Auburn, leaving back the life he used as his life to be offering services to people around within service, education and in the family that gave them all their history to this world.

Biography

Donald graduated in 1955 from Edward Little High School and also, from the University of Maine, with a degree focused on Education. Back at Auburn, he established his remarkable 37 years of service as an educator.

Career

He served as chair of mathematics at Edward Little High School and was viewed as the voice of students, on whose behalf he was honored as well. Donald was skiing and tennis coach and took two state championships with the two teams.

Honourable Military Service

Besides education, Donald’s efforts also benefited the Army. A few months after signing his contract as a teacher, he was activated and deployed to Fort Hood, Texas, for active duty. After the completion of his active tour, he rejoined the 76th Division and then continued his military career in the Air Force Reserves, where he rose through the ranks to become a Lt. Colonel and earned two Meritorious Service Medals.

Loved Ones

For 63 years, Donald was a devoted husband to his lovely wife, Carlene Tardiff. Surviving children include three children, five granddaughters, and a brother. Family, friends, and community will gather to pay their last respects at the Sacred Heart Church in Auburn on November 2.

On November 2, a memorial service will be held at Sacred Heart Church in Auburn where Donald’s loved ones will come together to celebrate his extraordinary life and legacy.

Closing Thoughts

Education, service, and family are the essence of commitment that Donald E. Towle showed to the Auburn community. He will always be remembered with love by those people who knew him.

Hobbies

Besides his professional life, Donald was very keenly interested in skiing and tennis and loved the same with his students and athletes.
