Announcement of Death
Alan “Al” Earl Thompson, 76 of Deer Grove Illinois passed away With grumpy old man who owned his daughter by his side (Thank god he did not go peacefully) on Aug. Peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 16th, 2024 Al passed away after a long battle with cancer.
Biography
Al was born August 19, 1948 in Dixon to Helen (Hays) Thompson and Harry Thompson. For his occupation, he exhausted over 30 years with comedy as a lineman. He was a Vietnam veteran who furnished the U.S. Navy Seabees Construction Battalion. Lesley’s trust was very crucial to him, and he showed the Tampico Baptist Church. A series of local tributes to Al have provided the family with comfort — some are from The Chicago Tribune, others in death announcements in Green Bay.
Hobbies
Al loved sports, the outdoors, and motorcycles- especially Harleys. His life surrounded him with family and friends whom he cherished as much as they did return it to him. His warm heart spoke through his generous soul, touching every person in life.
Loved Ones
Surviving are his loving wife of almost 55 years, Janis Thompson; sons Alan (Cheryl) Thompson Jr. – Deer Grove and David Donnelly — Dallas, Texas; cherished granddaughter Calleigh Thompson He also survives his sisters, Laura Thompson (and her daughter Ashley Warren), Gigi Heffelfinger and Patti Lynch. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Debbie (Thompson) VanLanduit and infant sister.
Memorial Services
Visitation will be held from 10-11:00 am Friday, October 25 at Tampico Baptist Church,204 W. 3rd St., Tampico followed by a Memorial Service at the church beginning at noon with Pastor Sherry Stevenson officiating. Eulogy will be given by Karl Kaiser, officiating Pastor Ethan Horton. A private military funeral will be held at Tampico Memorial Cemetery. After the services a Celebration of life will be held at The Break Room Pub N Grub in Tampico.
