Obituary Notice for James (Jimmy) Martin(1951-2024)

Announcement of Death

Saddened hearts share that on October 9th, James (Jimmy) Everett Martin left us in Grand Junction. A native of Walworth, Wisconsin born to Everett and Mary Martin he moved to Rifle in 1978 where his career began with Casey Concrete as the first employee hired. He worked there for 44 years; one of dedication, passion and supporting his contractors like family.

Biography

He would eventually make Rifle his home, fall in love with the mountains and feel at peace surrounded by old friends — like Pam Hiner. So Luis and Carolina married in May of 1980, gave birth to Isaac the following February, and conceived Seth in December. He shared his love for the outdoors, amongst many other interests such as cutting firewood, hunting and snowmobiling with them.

Hobbies

Jimmie enjoyed being outside, and loved nothing more than cutting firewood with a chainsaw, hunting or snowmobiling miles from nowhere with dear companions. In addition to coaching his kids’ soccer teams, he loved long storytelling that enthralled all in the room.

Loved Ones

He was preceded in demise by his folks and sister, Mary Ann. He is survived by his loving wife Pam, sons Isaac (grandson Everett) and Seth (grandchildren Emerson & Grace), brother Bill, sisters Edie, Kathy Carol Melanie Jane Colleen.

Memorial Services

 

A funeral for Jimmy will be held at the Garfield County Fairgrounds on October 27, 2018; onset at 10:00 AM. You won’t be excluded if you were a key portion of Tony’s life.

 

Closing Thoughts

 

Jimmy leaves a legacy that will never fade away with the memories of those who knew him. His spirit and the bigger-than-life personality that is Oz, his gregarious approach to life, his laughter — he became endearing. His tales and infectious spirit will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
